Fun and Games in R8 this afternoon

It might look like it is still lunchtime in R8 but we were actually learning about risk taking with this fun game. The further away from the bin the higher the score!

Students have talked about good risks and bad risks. We decided that it is good to take risks at times. Sometimes risks are not a good idea. We shared about those kinds of risks as well.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION OF THE MAYOR OF HAMELIN by Jasper James

The Mayor is a selfish man who thinks he can do whatever he wants to. When the children go and the rats take over he doesn't really do anything about it. The Mayor thinks he is a fine, wonderful gentleman but really he is a selfish, mean, untrustworthy liar who thinks he is the king!!!
The Mayor wears a shiny top hat, spectacles and a nice tuxedo. The Mayor has two sidekicks, counsellor one and two who help him to work. He blames problems on other people and when he gets tired he makes other people do the work.

The Pied Piper by Jovanna Chin

The Pied Piper walks around the street  joyfully playing his pipe. He can lead all animals away under the sun. His beautiful music made the small children go inside the mossy green tall mountain. Will they survive and get out or will they get stuck and stay in there and not live with hunger? If you watch the middle syndicate’s production you might find out and see if they will live or not.

The Pied Piper’s cloak is odd and he is the only one who can play music in the production. The choir will also sing in a few parts of the production. We hope you like the songs, there will be some dancing while the choir is singing so you won’t get bored. If you cannot come that is no problem with us, but if you do please like our show. It would be an honour if you will come as we did lots of practising and it was a lot of hard work so please come and be proud of us and if you don’t come will you please still be proud of us that will be so grateful if you would do that.

The Pied Piper was an old story it was  very interesting so people passed it on. Now these days The Pied Piper is getting quite popular so that’s why the middle syndicate is going to show it to you. Are you excited? Well you should be because The Pied Piper is coming up soon. We are making posters that will tell you about how much the tickets cost for senior citizens, adults and children. It will also tell you where you can get the tickets and what time/date it is on. We are very excited to perform to you. We would be so glad if everyone of you would come, it surely was a lot of hard work. Probably most of the middle syndicate is chatting and is excited about you and one of them is me! I love it when we middle syndicate is going to the hall because I like to see the performers you're going to see on stage some of them are funny. After we practise we all feel exhausted and feel like we want to wriggle around because of the sitting, it's really tiring.
The middle  syndicate  will have microphones so it will be loud enough so we would be sorry to wake your child that’s under the age of 4 I’m just letting you know if you're going to bring one. I hope you enjoy the show if you come. Read this writing and tell your friends about it and they might come with you to the show if you do want to come.

Yummy!

I reckon the students in Room 8 must be super fit and healthy because they eat so much fruit. After only two weeks our sticker chart was full! Thanks to all who contributed. We are earning our school valuable sports equipment as a result.
Well on the way to finishing off sticker sheet 2!
What do you think?

Making Fruit Kebabs for the Food Festival by Room 8

Students were asked to make some fruit kebabs to sell at the food festival last week.
Afterwards they wrote instructions so that other children could make them at home.
Why don't you ask mum and dad if you can try them yourself?
Oh no! The pictures are all out of order. Can you sort out the correct order of the pictures?

Lukas and William have written some instructions to help you.

Swimming Carnival by Fay

Yesterday I swam at the swimming carnival and I was very nervous at the start. There were heaps of parents sitting on chairs waiting excitedly and Miss Rodger had this clapper thingy so we knew when to start.

When it was my turn I was very nervous. When it started I swam very hard and I heard very loud splashy noises. After when we came back I was freezing and shivering and I saw lots of people cheering and clapping. The children were very colourful in the pool - it was like a colourful rainbow.

When we got back to class I was really cold so I put on my jumper and then I felt really warm. It was a really big and fun day today.

Swimming Carnival By Eddy and Joshua

On Wednesday the Middle Syndicate had a swimming carnival. The water was crystal clear and my goggles were as foggy as mist. There were rows and rows of people. The parents and children cheered like monkeys eating bananas. Miss Rodger called out boys with a number one on their hand to go and line up by the pool. ...I really enjoyed the swimming sports because of the colour of the water and because my family was there.

Yesterday the middle syndicate were going to compete against each other in the school pool. Room 9 and 8 had to bring chairs because all the benches in the pool area were taken. When all the middles were seated Miss Rodger had these light brown clappers and she was standing at the start of the pool. Every child had some numbers on their hand. At the end of the pool where some people and parents that were going to cheer for all the children. When Miss Rodger said boys with a one on their hand I knew that the race had started. So all the boys that had a one lined up in a line behind Mrs Lamberton It contained five boys. Then we got into the pool. Miss Rodger snapped the clappers together and we where off. I had lots of fun racing my friends and I really enjoyed it.

Swimming Carnival by Talan

On Wednesday it was the Middle Syndicate Swimming Carnival. The bright blue pool was cool. Children were noisy and parents were cheering. Kids were splashing in big waves. The kids who were swimming were zooming as fast as they could. When I was waiting I was very nervous and when I had my first race I felt confident. Miss Rodger made a big clapping noise with a clapperboard. I love swimming and enjoyed taking part. It was very challenging for me.

Wednesday 24 February 2016

Ooops! What happened in Room 8 on Tuesday?

Good grief. One minute glass window...Next minute this.

Renee wrote...On Tuesday a desk fell over the floor. It was by Mrs Shepheard's desk and it cracked the glass.

On the plus side we got to spend the afternoon outdoors!

Fay wrote...Then when we came back to class the glass was fixed. It was shiny as a seal and it was crystal clear like a diamond.
