Making Fruit Kebabs for the Food Festival by Room 8

Students were asked to make some fruit kebabs to sell at the food festival last week.
Afterwards they wrote instructions so that other children could make them at home.
Why don't you ask mum and dad if you can try them yourself?
Oh no! The pictures are all out of order. Can you sort out the correct order of the pictures?

Lukas and William have written some instructions to help you.

First you need to clean your surface. Then go and wash your hands for twenty seconds make sure you wash the top and bottom. Now stick fruit on sticks in a pattern and do that a few times. Now you will have to wrap it in glad wrap then put the wrapped fruit kebabs into a chiller bag to keep them cold if you don't want to eat them now. Have some nice fruit kebabs!

Swimming Carnival by Fay

Yesterday I swam at the swimming carnival and I was very nervous at the start. There were heaps of parents sitting on chairs waiting excitedly and Miss Rodger had this clapper thingy so we knew when to start.

When it was my turn I was very nervous. When it started I swam very hard and I heard very loud splashy noises. After when we came back I was freezing and shivering and I saw lots of people cheering and clapping. The children were very colourful in the pool - it was like a colourful rainbow.

When we got back to class I was really cold so I put on my jumper and then I felt really warm. It was a really big and fun day today.

Swimming Carnival By Eddy and Joshua

On Wednesday the Middle Syndicate had a swimming carnival. The water was crystal clear and my goggles were as foggy as mist. There were rows and rows of people. The parents and children cheered like monkeys eating bananas. Miss Rodger called out boys with a number one on their hand to go and line up by the pool. ...I really enjoyed the swimming sports because of the colour of the water and because my family was there.

Yesterday the middle syndicate were going to compete against each other in the school pool. Room 9 and 8 had to bring chairs because all the benches in the pool area were taken. When all the middles were seated Miss Rodger had these light brown clappers and she was standing at the start of the pool. Every child had some numbers on their hand. At the end of the pool where some people and parents that were going to cheer for all the children. When Miss Rodger said boys with a one on their hand I knew that the race had started. So all the boys that had a one lined up in a line behind Mrs Lamberton It contained five boys. Then we got into the pool. Miss Rodger snapped the clappers together and we where off. I had lots of fun racing my friends and I really enjoyed it.

On Wednesday it was the Middle Syndicate Swimming Carnival. The bright blue pool was cool. Children were noisy and parents were cheering. Kids were splashing in big waves. The kids who were swimming were zooming as fast as they could. When I was waiting I was very nervous and when I had my first race I felt confident. Miss Rodger made a big clapping noise with a clapperboard. I love swimming and enjoyed taking part. It was very challenging for me.
